Carol Miles, MSW, LCSW, EMDR Consultant & Trainer

Carol Miles, MSW, LCSW is a clinical social work specializing in individual and family psychotherapy. Carol is a certified Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist, an EMDRIA Approved Consultant, and an EMDRIA Approved Basic Trainer.

With over 30 years experience as a clinician, and a graduate of LSU School of Social Work specializing in clinical social work, she currently maintains a private practice in both Covington and New Orleans, LA while also using her extensive experience to teach and train other practitioners. In 2020, she moved her practice and trainings online using HIPAA compliant video conferencing.

Among her areas of expertise are working with clients who have eating disorders and trauma. Carol often presents at state wide conferences and to general audiences on topics ranging from EMDR, eating disorders, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Skills Training (DBT Skills), and developing a private practice.  She is also an adjunct professor at the Tulane School of Social Work.

As the former Board President of EMDRIA (2019-2020) and the co-coordinator of the EMDR Regional Meetings in Southeast Louisiana, Carol has brought a higher level of expertise to the region’s ability to effectively address trauma through networking and presentations. Her Three Rivers Training Center also brings nationally known EMDR Advanced Trainers to Louisiana to present on the intense work associated with addressing anger, dissociation, attachment issues, and other mental health concerns. These trainers help to develop the skills of the therapists in our community and throughout this this region. As an EMDRIA Approved Basic Trainer, Carol works with LSU School of Public Health Center for Evidence to Practice to teach therapists about this exciting, efficient, and effective type of psychotherapy.

Dolores Mosquera

Psychotherapist, EMDR Europe Trainer

Dolores Mosquera is a psychologist and psychotherapist, specializing in complex trauma and dissociative disorders.

She has been trained in several psychotherapeutic approaches and is an accredited EMDR Europe trainer and supervisor. Dolores is the director of the Institute for the Study of Trauma and Personality Disorders (INTRA-TP), a private institution where she has worked for years. Dolores has extensive experience in leading seminars, workshops, and lectures around the world. She has been a guest speaker at conferences globally.

She has published 15 books and numerous articles on personality disorders, complex trauma, and dissociative disorders, and is a recognized expert in this field.

In 2017, Dolores received the David Servan-Schreiber award for outstanding contributions to the EMDR field, and was made a Fellow of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation in 2018.


Kathy Steele


Kathy Steele has been in private practice since 1985, and with Metropolitan Psychotherapy Associates in Atlanta, Georgia since 1988. She was Clinical Director of Metropolitan Counseling Services, a non- profit psychotherapy and training center until 2016.

She is a Past President and Fellow of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD), and has also served two terms on the Board of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS). Kathy served on the International Task Force that developed treatment guidelines for Dissociative Disorders, and on the Joint International Task Force that has developed treatment guidelines for Complex Post-traumatic Stress Disorder. She has received a number of awards for her work, including the Lifetime Achievement Award from ISSTD, an Emory University Distinguished Alumni Award, and the Cornelia B. Wilbur Award for Outstanding Clinical Contributions from ISSTD.Kathy has (co)authored numerous book chapters, peer reviewed journal articles, and three books with her colleagues.

Arianne Struik

Clinical Psychologist, EMDR Consultant

Arianne is a clinical psychologist, family therapist and EMDR practitioner and consultant, originally from the Netherlands. She worked in Child and Adolescent Mental Health for twenty-two years as a clinical psychologist and program director. She moved to Australia and became director of The Institute for Chronically Traumatized Children (ICTC) from which she provides specialized trauma treatment in remote areas, as well as workshops, training, supervision and research.


Arianne developed the award-winning Sleeping Dogs method, described in the second edition of the book Treating Chronically Traumatized Children (Struik, 2019) and teaches internationally on the treatment of trauma and dissociation in children. She is a member of the European ISSTD Child and Adolescent Committee and the former convenor of the national committee of the Australian Psychological Society EMDR therapy Interest Group.

Hope Payson

LCSW, LADC, EMDR Consultant

Hope is a licensed Clinical Social Worker, Alcohol and Drug Counselor and an EMDRIA Approved Consultant who specializes in the treatment of addiction and complex trauma. She has over 30 years of experience working in community mental health in a variety of capacities and was the Clinical Director for EMDR HAP for 7 years.


Hope currently coordinates a group private practice in Winsted, Ct. and also provides training on trauma, addiction and recovery internationally.  Hope is the co-producer of the film “Uprooting Addiction: Healing From the Ground Up a documentary that explores the connection between trauma, neglect and vulnerability to addictive disorders.

Shelley Spear Chief

MCSW, EMDR Consultant

Shelley is a Clinical Social Worker who specializes in trauma and is a Leading First Nation Presenter on issues of historical trauma and utilizing traditional practices in counselling. She integrates her cultural ways of understanding and working with First Nation clients who have experienced trauma.

Shelley has presented at the EMDR Canada conference as well as with Dr. Bruce Perry at the 2018 NMT International Symposium on Trauma. Shelley is currently in the process of writing a book on working with Indigenous peoples in collaboration with Dr. Sandra Paulsen. Shelley will also be presenting with Dr. Sandra Paulsen at the Trauma and Dissociative Conference in April 2021 & at the EMDR Canada Conference in Niagara on the Lake. In addition, Shelley has presented many different workshops and training within several First Nation Communities teaching several topics related to trauma and dissociation. Shelley has taught within the University of Calgary social work program.


Prerequisites to Enroll in Basic EMDR Training

Intended audience

In order to enroll in a Basic EMDR training program, mental health professionals must:

  • Have a Master’s Degree in the mental health field (Psychology, Psychiatry, Counseling, Marriage Family Therapy, Psychotherapy, Social Work) or related mental health discipline. 

  • A licensed or license eligible practitioner through their state board or province.

  • Be present for all segments of the Basic EMDR training ( 6 days + 10 hrs Consultation), have paid tuition.

Refunds, Cancellations, & Conditions



  • $150 of the total tuition is non-refundable in the event that a learner requests to cancel their enrollment​​, plus the $75 processing fee (outlined below)

  • By registering and making a payment, you acknowledge that you met the professional requirements as set forth by EMDRIA

  • If choosing the 4x $499.75 payment option, any declined payments must be settled within 3 business days or it is deemed as forfeiture of registration.

  • Learners must be present for all 8 days in order to receive sign off on completion. 

  • Certificates are given once the attendee has completed all of the requirements for the basic EMDR training, including the 10 hours of consultations and the final evaluations.  Participants must complete the entire training to receive certificates.  No partial certificates are awarded. 

  • Completion of the bonus sessions (with guest speakers and the on-demand courses) are not required in order to receive the basic EMDR certificate.

  • No refunds will be issued once the training begins.

  • If you require specific accommodation, please make your request 30 days prior to the 1st session.



  • Refunds on purchased tickets are available only until May 15th , 2021 (no refund after this date). There is a $75 processing fee for all refunds and the deposit is non-refundable. *Prices subject to change.

  • Refunds and basic EMDR training certificates are not available to participants who miss portions of training  i.e. - Missing days


  • This training may be cancelled or postponed 30 days prior to its date due to under-enrollment or other circumstances. The training shall be cancelled or postponed if unforeseen circumstances, such as presenter illness and/or a natural disaster (a flood, earthquake, tsunami, wildfire, or other major incidents) arises. Participants will be refunded 100%

  • Envision Workshops Inc. reserves the right to cancel the EMDR basic training at any time. Should this happen, learners will receive a full refund. 

  • In the event that the trainer must cancel in less than 1 week due to illness or unforeseen emergency circumstances, a full refund will be issued, or a credit for a later course if you choose.
